Equalizer

High voltage electric fences (5kv – 15kv, “kilovolts”) are utilized all over the world for both humans and livestock. BUT: When one is using a high voltage fence of less than 2 joules: take caution! the actual high voltage pulse on this “low joule” fence is only about 5 – 10 micro-seconds duration. A pulse this short now is more vulnerable to the radio frequency characteristics. Even though this pulse only happens once every second or so, the radio frequency is still effective, and it is there.

When a high voltage fence is installed adjacent to an any iron mass such as a chain link fence, this factor is there and this creates an off-set voltage to current and effectively reduces the shock voltage, which in return reduces the effectiveness of the fence, The result is especially undesirable in a security application. These characteristics do not occur with the higher joule fence chargers that utilizes a long pulse (not higher voltage). They only occur when the low joule high voltage fence is installed adjacent to a steel chain-link fence. This type of fence configuration is pretty much confined to security fences.

The actual construction, design and components of a fence very much depend on the usage, from chickens, horses, cattle and even humans. However, either containment or exclusion, the physics involved remains a constant.

To recap; The electronics involved has the fence voltage lag somewhat behind the fence current which effectively reduces the shock. The actual shock provided is a combination of these two factors. The actual end result is a less powerful shock, which we have seen to be lowered as much as 40 – 50 percent or more. This only happens when the high voltage fence is installed close to iron, such as a steel chain-link fence.

Shown above is the actual Equalizer. There a considerable amount of electronics packed in this device which is mounted on your fence. This device will maintain your fence voltage to the voltage that your fence charger provides, “out of the box” before it is connected to your fence. It is that simple.

With that said, at this point in time there are only two (2) options currently available. The objective is to provide maximum voltage and shock value to maximize the effectiveness of your high voltage fence.

          (A) The most common option we see around is to install the high voltage fence a foot and a half or more inside of, and away from the existing chain-link fence. This distance spacing will reduce the voltage loss almost completely. The further, the better.

However, there are some disadvantages to this solution. This spacing option uses up valuable yard space. This spacing makes it easier for an intruder to evade the high voltage fence. It is then difficult to maintain or eliminate the weed growth and other factors that reduce the effectiveness of the very reason you installed the fence in the first place.

          (B) Alternative to option A; Install your fence with the Equalizer. This is most effective way to reduce the amount of square feet that your high voltage fence requires, Simply install your high voltage fence as close as desired to your existing chain-link fence. This will drastically reduce the amount of square feet lost, reduce maintenance costs and greatly increase the effectiveness of your high voltage fence.

The Bottom line: – The EQUALIZER allows you to install your fence without wasted yard area. No more  wasted yardage, plus more effective perimeter security. Works with any brand of fence charger.
