Mini Storage

.

We completed an electric security fence for a mini storage warehouse complex in San Antonio, Texas. This installation was different because it’s open to customers 24 hours a day. We had to construct the electric security array in such a way that when an authorized access code is input to the keypad the electric gate will open without triggering the alarm.

If the gate is forced open, however, the alarm still goes off.

We also had to wire the system into a “Knox box,” a generic locking access box that “only” the fire department has a key for. When the fire department opens the Knox box they can flip a switch that turns off the juice to the fence. The alarm, however, is triggered when they do so.

The cost for this installed, turnkey system was much less than paying nighttime security guards for one year, and the customer owns a fence that can last up to 30 years. The intangible bonus is that the live-in manager feels much more secure at night.
