This is a standard plug-in transformer that provides 12 volt DC power to the Fence Hawk. We recommend this component if you do not have 12 volts DC available from your security alarm or another source.
The output of this plug-in device provides the proper voltage (12 to 12.5 volt DC) to keep your 12 volt backup battery charged.
For best results use a 12 volt battery to power your Fence Hawk fence monitor where this “plug-in” unit is used to keep the battery charged at all times. The 12 volt battery also acts as additional protection against spurious spikes that occur within all systems.

Cotter Pins
Our Cotter Pins are an economical way to fasten the wire to line posts or spacer battens. Holes must first be drilled in the rods or wood. Clip the pin onto the wire, put the 2 legs of the pin through the hole and bend the ends back to the fence wire. 14 gauge, class 3 galvanized. These cotter pins are perfect to use with ½” fiberglass drilled posts.

When the Mag 12 SP is first turned to ON position, the performance meter on front of fence charger now performs 3 exclusive functions: 1. Meter operation test 2. Battery charge level test 3. Fence charger voltage output on fence.
Specifications:
1. Meter Operation Test: This test will sweep meter needle to full scale and back. This test shows that meter movement is smooth and able to indicate full scale. If meter is functioning correctly the needle will go to the top of green (full scale) and then return to bottom of red.
2. Battery Charge Level Test: The meter will indicate the charge level of the battery. If the meter indicates “RED” the battery should be recharged before operating fence charger. If the meter indicates “YELLOW” the battery is low and should be recharged soon. If the meter indicates “GREEN” the battery has a good charge. To get the most accurate reading of the battery charge level, the battery should be in a no load/no charge state. Battery charge level will be indicated for the first 5 seconds immediately following the Meter Operation Test.
3. Voltage Output: After battery charge level test, the performance meter will begin to indicate amount of voltage on fence: GREEN— good voltage on fence— YELLOW fence voltage low, check fence— RED no voltage on fence, check fence immediately

To replace the fence charging unit:
– Simply remove the solar panel lid
– Remove the internal battery
– Remove unit battery case screws (top left and top right on the battery case), and remove old unit from the battery case.
– Disconnect wires the red and black wires from the battery and the solar panel.
– Connect the new charging unit wires to the solar panel wires using the new splicing clamps (red wire to red wire and black wire to black wire).
– Place the new unit in the the battery case and secure with the two case screws.
– Reconnect the battery to the solar panel wires.
– Turn the fence charger switch on and check performance meter on the fence charger for proper operation.
– If proper operation, turn off fence charger and re-install battery into the case and re-attach the solar panel lid.
